I’m told West Mercia has the second lowest retention rate for officers in the country and a recent survey by the Police Federation showed that morale was really, really low.
Recruitment – some people are joining and are unaware that they have to work nights – what’s that all about?
A female joined on the fast track scheme and is able to go from PC to Inspector if she passed the exam. She failed it twice, and was told that she would have to progress in the normal way – you’re only allowed two attempts.
She duly complained and said her treatment was because she was Asian.
The force gave in and promoted her to sergeant – not a very good one so I’m told.
So now she has a job doing exit interviews to find out why people are leaving.

This article in tonight's Shrewsbury chronicle about West Mercia Police morale makes very sad reading. Elect me Henry Curteis and this will be changed. Diversity targets will be scrapped. They are divisive. Political projects like Gay Pride and Police Standing Together will be dropped. Shocking fake news. Chief Constable Pippa Mills resigned from West Mercia Police months ago. BBC still shows films of her and alleges she is still in post. Watch carefully this video from the BBC's Worcester reporter covering the election James Pearson. He films Pippa Mills and states quite clearly that she is the Chief Constable. Yet she resigned about two months ago and has been replaced with a temporary Chief Constable from The Met.
