To Ned Pamphilon
Thank you for your email. I can confirm that Graham is both nice and is good company. He was a member of the English Democrats some years ago, but wanted to focus on the idea of the English Constitution and, of course, had his Daddy Dragon show with which he had a decent following.
For my part I always thought the arguments were good, but what we were up against a judiciary that now, since Blair’s time, has been selected purely on the basis of Blair politics with the preliminary condition, before the Judicial Appointments Commission will even consider appointing a judge, that the applicant has to prove “a life time’s commitment to Equality and Diversity”. It is not therefore surprising that these are judges who generally speaking do not respect the idea of the English Constitution.
I can hardly do better than point you in the direction of the second Gina Miller case in which she was opposing the prorogation of Parliament by the Queen at Boris Johnson’s request. That court case ought to have been blocked off by the Bill of Rights and, indeed, the High Court ruled that it was. The Supreme Court led by Brenda Hale, a card carrying social justice warrior and feminist, ignored the importance of the Bill of Rights.
I realise that a more limited slogan like the “English Constitution may be of assistance and work as a useful argument” is not as striking as “The Constitution is the solution”, but I fear it is probably more accurate.
