Leafleting today went well. I was in Meole Brace shopping park, Shrewsbury outside Sainsbury for an hour or so handing out leaflets to shoppers, in the sun but still cold on the hands!
As usual I met a bunch of characters - and find that more women than men are interested in what goes on in the world. But not exclusively that way around.
I used my question 'Are you good?' to one or two younger men and it worked - just as usual. If I don't say the words, 'Are you good?', they seem to think it's ultra cool to refuse a leaflet saying just the words 'I'm good'! Was there some movie they all saw where the hero did something like this? If so Hollywood has successfully disengaged young males from their community, and they can simply be disposed of without any resistance, as long as they are permitted to look cool as they step over the cliff to their doom.
Most women seem to still have the ability to engage, and want to know what's going on. The ones who refuse seem either hard-faced or lacksadaisical. I wonder if they'd awaken if I said something like - 'Keep your jewellery safe, girls' - or something like that. Might try it next time.
One lady told me she'd had a Teds Thought Police campaign leaflet pushed through her letterbox two days ago. It wasn't me (I'm the West Mercia English Democrats candidate) which shows that Head Office has got leafleting teams working around West Mercia which includes Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. As I only started just over a week ago, and was appointed about two weeks ago, that's quick. I'm impressed.
One lady studied the leaflet carefully without reading it and announced that 'it looks a bit rightwing to me,' which was her viewpoint. I would have thought that running the Police properly and having Law and Order back in our land was just common sense, neither left or rightwing. But never mind. Maybe she wants more burglaries. Obviously not rapes. Yet that is exactly what Robin Tilbrook is concerned to achieve - to stop the rape gangs.
The Teds are above all defensive, and not aggressive. Crime affects poorer sections of the community more than the rich who live in protected ghettoes. Stopping crime is for all of humanity...apart from the criminals. So please no more left right and more about protecting people.
I will carry the England Calling leaflet for those who want more background on who we are and what we are about so we get across more depth of understanding. My lady friend might even take a proper look. See the England Calling leaflet on landing page of England Calling - www.englandcalling.co.uk.
The hardcore criminals who commit more than 50% of all crime are only 0.1% of our population - 1 in a thousand. The Police know who they are, and a lot more could be done to prevent them becoming active, or growing their activity. If there were more prisons they would not be released so early each time they are 'sent away'. It all just needs political will which is lacking in the main parties. The ultra rich who control large political parties often like crime actually as it keeps others down, while the crime doesn't affect them. Are these rightwing notions? I don't think they are personally. The poorer in society tend to vote Labour. The better off Conservative. The rich want Communism as it keeps everyone poor and weakened apart from themselves. The Teds know who are our enemies are, and want to protect all of us from these, so next time, read the leaflet Madam. As I was saying, let's keep you, as well as your jewellery beyond the reach of the criminals!
