The police have a difficult job, but they do not help themselves with police brutality and shameful arrogance. Ultimately, if they don’t have the trust of middle-class members of the public like me, then their job will become harder and harder.
By further way of example to how ineffective the police are, a year ago my mother was mugged. Within 24 hours of filing the online report the case was closed. It was NFA’d.
When I obtained the CCTV from Tesco, I had a clear image of the mugger, a clear video of the mugging and a clear photo of the car along with the registration plate. Everything needed for a successful prosecution.
However, the police were not interested and nothing happened. How many more old people did that scumbag go on to mug whilst the police continued to turn a blind eye?

If elected, is it not up to you to restore the trust in the police? I will be particularly interested by Mr Campion’s comments to the MONK pension issue I allude to above.
On a final note, your silence to my email or failure to address it in the fullest way will automatically remove your name from my preferred candidate list and you will not be considered for my vote. I am still undecided so it is up for grabs.
Therefore, I look forward to your swift reply.

I have to ask you what would you do if you went to a police station in the West Mercia area and made a complaint, only to be told by the Detective Sergeant that
“As far as we’re concerned you can stick your evidence up your own arse…..”.

No, I am not being dramatic as this actually occurred and those were the words of a serving officer. When the officer involved, Detective Sergeant Tony LOVE (Retd) was challenged on his arrogant and wholly unprofessional comments he put me to proof. When I advised him that I had recorded our meeting, and noting that the police routinely covertly record individuals, he argued that I had abused his human rights.
Quite pathetic I’d say. I assume that Professional Standards have now disposed of the multiple audio copies of LOVE’s comments that I provided. If so, that is not a problem as more copies are available upon request.
The irony attached to LOVE’s pleadings, particularly linked to his clear misfeasance in a public office, linked him directly to Animal Farm? Should he have been known as Detective Sergeant Tony LOVE or Detective Sergeant Napolean LOVE – you tell me but he clearly thought he was more equal than me.
Quite simply, LOVE was caught out by his own arrogance. As a result of my experience, I always advise my clients to covertly record any police officer or civilian as they cannot be trusted.
However, and of concern, I have been told that LOVE still has links to the hierarchy of West Mercia Police, I believe, previously working in Professional Standards and now, ironically, I am informed it appears within the ‘Change Team’. If true, and given the issues I raise above, do you consider that a review is needed to how West Mercia Police, police themselves? I question if LOVE’s arrogance has pervaded throughout those he worked alongside as it appears that MONK’s did with BETTLEY-SMITH? Also, is this why abusive officers climb the ranks and are promoted by their peers as per the BBC article linked to above?
I would like to hear your thoughts on the above.
Noting that the incumbent Police Commissioner appears not to have taken action against Benjamin MONK, the first police officer in 35 years to be convicted of unlawful killing over a death in custody or following police contact in England or Wales, in stripping him of his pension and recovering tax payers monies paid whilst suspended and awaiting trial, is incredulous.
I do stand to be corrected but, if this has not happened, I have to question why not as it is clearly an option. Could this be because MONK may, or may not, still be romantically involved with another abusive police officer, Mary Ellen BETTLEY-SMITH?
Perhaps their romantic connect has passed now that MONK is rightly detained as His Majesty’s pleasure. However, it is worrying that, as a member of the public, BETTLEY-SMITH continued to serve as a police officer after being convicted of gross misconduct, something she always denied. The public deserve to know if this individual still poses a risk to the general public, if she is still employed or if she has changed her name and is hiding behind this. Clare’s law provides for such information to be disclosed for those in a relationship. I would assert that police have a relationship with the general public so should we not know?
Why am I am writing to you with these concerns? I do so as my experience with West Mercia Police is of the lowest possible standard and I can provide more examples of police abuse and arrogance.
