Halal Campaign launched by Catherine Blaiklock

She writes - I am launching a new Halal campaign.

Existing campaigns have focused on banning Halal. This is a non starter with the current government and indeed any shade of government in the near future, unless Rupert Lowe and Ben Habib by some miraculous chance get a majority. Reform seems extremely unlikely to do anything.

The exemption for Halal and Kosher is to allow ritual slaughter for believers. The particularly terrible part of this killing, is the non -stun throat cutting related to Halal.

Halal meat is now being served , in many, if not most schools in Britain.

Many animals are killed in barbaric and tortuous ways to serve as lunches for children whose parents would be horrified if they knew how the animals had been killed.

(Many of the videos are too horrific to watch.)

Local authorities regulate slaughter houses. They are clearly breaking the law by allowing the mass killing of animals in this way to be sold to non-believers. It also seems that Halal slaughter houses are putting non halal slaughter houses out of business since it is much cheaper to just cut an animals throat than it is to spend money and time on stunning.

Robin Tilbrook and I believe that we have something that we can win if taken to court. If successful, it would throw a light on what is happening.

It would not stop Halal but we could reduce its extent. It would also expose what a horrifying business this is, going on in a country that supposedly loves animals.

We are at the very initial stages.

Thank you in advance.
