Re: Local Elections 2025/6
If you live in an area where you have a County Council, the Government is currently planning to abolish your District/Borough Councils and have a Directly Elected Mayor for your County Council.
As the English Democrats have a track record of having won a Directly Elected Mayoralty in Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, it may be that we will be able to make something of Mayoral Elections.
However most of the commentaries I have seen ignores something that we ought to be paying attention to, which is that Parish/Town Councils which currently have very little power indeed are set to be given more powers and become much more significant in local government, including having much greater budgets.
In these circumstances it makes sense for all of us who want to make a difference in our country to at least make sure that we stand to become Parish/Town Councillors.
If you are interested in becoming a Parish Councillor in readiness for the reorganisation of local government in your area, please do make contact with me via my email robintilbrook@aol.com. Also if you simply want further information please do make contact.
I cannot finish this email without mentioning the very heartening sight of so many Cross of St Georges being raised by activists across England and, indeed, posters on pedestrian crossings and mini-roundabouts.
The English Democrats are, of course, the only Party calling for the Cross of St George to be flown from every public building, so we do very much support the flying of the Cross of St George wherever possible!
It is particularly interesting that the British authorities particularly do not like seeing the Cross of St George flown. Perhaps they think, like the former Leader of the “Conservative” Party, William Hague, that “English Nationalism is the worst form of all nationalisms”!?
Yours sincerely
